Head out from Vieux-Bourg, Sainte-Rose, or Pointe-à-Pitre to reach Grand Cul de Sac Marin, a bay over 3,700 hectares in size protected by an immense coral reef. To venture into the bay (by boat, kayak, or motorboat) is to treat yourself to a day between sea and land at the heart of the nursery that is the Lesser Antilles. The nature reserve is in fact a nutrient-rich natural sanctuary where turtles, fish, marine birds, and local rodents come to breed. To enjoy it to the fullest without disturbing Mother Nature, opt for small group excursions aboard small, quiet boats.
